#15 Nigerian Footballers Who Lost their Lives on the Pitch {Photos}

There are countless cases of players who slumped and died right on the field of play. This could be as a result from a preexisting health condition or an unforseen circumstances.

Some of these deaths could have been due to poor medical conditions.  Therefore, every football body should try to see that everything is in place, in order to minimize the occurrence of such tragedies. And players with underlying health conditions should be adequately taken care of.

When asked of a Nigerian player, who died on the pitch, Samuel Okwaraji is easily the first name that comes to mind. His death was really painful, and it happened in a World Cup Qualifiers match, where he was representing his country. However, there have been other tragic cases of Nigerian footballers who died on the pitch. See below:
