2Baba Affirms Relevance in Music, Credits Sacrifices for Afrobeats Rise

Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Ujah Idibia, famously known as 2Baba, has reaffirmed his relevance in the music industry despite the emergence of new Afrobeats stars. In a recent interview with AFRIMMA, the iconic ‘African Queen’ crooner credited his and his peers’ sacrifices for propelling Afrobeats to its current global prominence.

Reflecting on his journey, 2Baba advised aspiring artists to trust the process rather than rushing for overnight success. He pointed to Burna Boy as a prime example, emphasizing how Burna Boy diligently built his career from performing at small venues to eventually selling out arenas and stadiums, including the prestigious Madison Square Garden.

“Burna Boy sells out Madison Square Garden, and some artists think they’re at the same level. That’s not realistic,” 2Baba remarked, underscoring the importance of patience and perseverance in the music industry. He highlighted that success like Burna Boy’s is a result of consistent effort and building a dedicated fanbase over time.
