3 dangerous effect of adding seasoning cubes to your foods

Although seasoning cubes add flavor and taste to your food, there are dangers to consuming them. Taking seasoning cubes in excess can result in the following adverse effects: nausea, fatigue, skin rash, headache, vomiting, thirst, and increased bowel movement.

Plus 3 dangerous health conditions which can result from high intake of seasoning cubes:

High blood pressure (Hypertension)

Seasoning cubes contain high sodium content which can increase your blood pressure over time. A high content of sodium in your blood allows fluid to collect around your heart and this elevates the pressure in your blood vessels.

The seasoning cube is composed of several ingredients including salt and MSG (monosodium glutamate). The salt in a seasoning cube is a mixture of chloride and sodium fortified with iodine.

Excessive consumption of sodium is not good for your health. Even when your body filters out some of the sodium through your urine, a significant amount is retained. It’s this amount which causes many diseases linked to high sodium intake.

For instance, studies have proven that those with higher sodium intake tend to experience hypertension than those who consume less. This observation is evident in persons with history of hypertension, chronic kidney diseases, and diabetes.

WHO recommends you keep your sodium intake to about 2,000mg per day.

Stroke and heart attack

You risk yourself having heart disease if you consume a high dose of trans fats via seasoning cubes. Trans fats will surround your arteries and block the flow of blood to the organs in your body. This leads to heart attack and stroke if the fats clog the arteries supplying the heart and the brain.

The fats in your seasoning cubes occur in the form of hydrogenated fat which is also the same fats used in processed foods and snacks. The processed trans fats in seasoning cubes are lethal to your health.

Neurotoxic effects

Excess intake of seasoning cubes can interfere with your nervous coordination. Seasoning cubes contain MSG which is the main flavouring agent.

High doses of MSG in your bloodstream results in the following effects: headache, sensitivity of the pericranial muscles to touch and movement, pain, rapid heartbeats, and nausea.

But, these effects are only seen in some persons that consume extreme doses of MSG such as 3g per meal, especially in sensitive users.

Still, you should be careful when using seasoning cubes. In this way you would not worry about the adverse effects of MSG.

Then again you can opt for natural seasonings and spices.
