4 Common mistakes that cause damage in the eyes

We all know how important our eyes are to us.

Unfortunately, we do certain things out of ignorance everyday that cause serious damage to our eyes.

1. Staying under the sun during bright Sunlight.

The ultra violet rays from the sun is the greatest things that causes damage to our eyes. It is called macular degeneration of the eyes.

When doctors says that your eye problem is age related and that you should take glasses, it is this kind of damage. It is very difficult if not impossible to reverse.

Avoid staying under the sun when the sun is shining brightly or wear protective sunglasses.

2. Looking at our phone or computer for long without protective sunglasses

The phone produce dangerous rays which destroys the eyes if we look at it for long without protective sunglasses.

So if your work require looking at the phone or computer for long hours. Make sure that you buy protective sunglasses or give your eyes a little break from time to time.

Poor dieting.

Our eyes deserve to be included in our food budget. We just do not eat for energy. We should eat food to provide for every part of our body.

The brain have foods that help it, so does the heart. The eyes also have their own unique food nutrients. The essential nutrients for the eye are beta carotene, lycopene, vitamin A and carotenoids.

Those orange and red pigments in some of the fruits we eat serve to protect our eyes from the harmful effect of the sun. They are the nutrients mentioned above.

You can find them in tomatoes, watermelon, papaya, red grapes, green leafy vegetables , sweet potatoes, avocados, apples, oranges etc. Don’t forget fruits and vegetables in your food budget.

4. Reading with our phone torchlight

The torchlight on our phone was not designed for reading. It is a very dangerous type of light if we use it for reading. It may cause serious damage to our eyes.
