Sound Sultan

The 44-year-old singer died from a battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma on July 12, according to a family statement.

Sound Sultan, whose real name is Olanrewaju Fasasi, was also buried on the same day in the US.

He left behind his wife and three children. He was responsible for many hits from the music industry including “Jagbajantis”, “Natural Something”, “Ole”. He was known for his close friendships with Wyclef Jean and Tuface Idibia.

 

Baba Suwe

Yoruba movie lovers will definitely miss one of the industry veterans and comic actor, Baba Suwe. He is credited to featuring in over a hundred of movies as a colorful character.

Real name, Babatunde Omidina was born in Lagos state. He died on November 22nd, aged 63.

He was buried three days after his death in a ceremony attended by several Nollywood stars.

 

Sadiq Daba

Sadiq Daba was a veteran broadcaster and actor from Kano, who died following a long battle with leukemia and prostate cancer. He departed on March 3, 2021

He featured in series and movies, with ‘Cock Crow at Dawn’ and ‘October 1st’ as notable mentions. In the 1980s, Daba made waves working with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

He had in 2017 narrated to Channels Television his battle with cancer.

 

Victor Uwaifo

He is best remembered by his hit songs, ‘Mami Water’, ‘Joromi’ and ‘Guitar Boy,’. He died on August 28, 2021 aged 80. The multi-talented icon from Edo state was also a songwriter, sculptor, and professor.

Between 2001 and 2003, he served as the Commissioner for Arts and Culture in Edo State.

 

Rachel Oniga

Rachel Oniga hails from Delta State. She was 64 and died on July 30 2021.

She made her major acting debut in Nollywood with “Onome,” She has many movies to her credits. Her lasdt featured movie was “A Naija Christmas” featuring in cinemas. The veteran actress had three children and several grandchildren. She was buried a month later in Lagos State.

 

Victor Olaotan

The 69-year-old actor, who is best known for his role as Fred Ade-Williams in the popular TV series, Tinsel, was bedridden for five years after he was involved in a ghastly accident. He died on 27th August 2021.

Mr Olaotan featured in movies like “Love struck” as well as “Three Wise Men”, alongside Richard Mofe-Damijo and Zack Orji.
