7up boosts youth capacity with Harvard scholarship
Seven-Up Bottling Company Limited has unveiled its scholarship winner for the Harvard Business school programme.
A statement said this was part of its commitment to the development of well-trained young global leaders to impact the political economy of Nigeria and the African continent.
Speaking during the unveiling of Miss Dafi-Rogers-Halliday as the 12th winner of the 7Up Harvard Business School MBA Scholarship, the Managing Director, Seven-Up Bottling Company, Mr Ziad Maalouf, said the award was given to a deserving young Nigerian every year.
He added that it was for a two-year MBA programme at the prestigious Harvard Business School, Boston Massachusetts, United States of America.
According to Maalouf, Nigeria is one of the countries with the best young talented population who were making impact both locally and globally, especially in the fintech space.
He said the 7Up HBS MBA Scholarship is aimed at complementing talents and raising future leaders with a global vision.
The Chief Marketing Officer, SBC, Mr Norden Thurston, who recalled the event of the first presentation of the first winner of the 7Up HBS Scholarship 11 years ago, expressed that he was proud of the impact past winners were making in society.
He mentioned Misan Rewane who through her skills training organisation, the West African Vocational Education, trained and placed over 5,000 graduates in several companies in the hospitality industry.
Rogers-Halliday, a first-class graduate of Economics said the scholarship was an honour and had helped her to realise her dream of studying at Harvard Business School.
