The police on Wednesday, arraigned two men, 20 year old Adeweye Adelusi and 23 year old  Agboola Damilola, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged self-kidnapping.

The defendants were brought arraigned on a count of self-kidnapping.

The police had last week said the suspects were arrested by the Rapid Response Squad led by Marcus Ogundola in the bush between Iworoko and Ifaki, where they allegedly faked the kidnap of Adelusi with the aim of extorting money from his relations for the New Year celebration.

When the matter came up in court, the police prosecutor, Inspector Bamikole Olasunkanmi said the defendants committed the offence on December 31, 2020 around 8.30pm at the Iloda Camp via Ifaki-Ekiti.

Medinat, who said that she is from a polygamous home, revealed that she was maltreated by her step mother, who also caused friction between her and her father, adding that she decided to fake her own kidnap to get money to offset debts she incurred during COVID-19 lockdown.
