Robbery Victims Narrate Experience In 66 Passenger Bus In Lagos

Two robbery victims, Wednesday narrated how the 66 passenger bus they boarded from Charley Boy area of Gbagada/Oshodi expressway, enroute Ojodu/Berger, Lagos, was robbed at gunpoint. The victims who experienced the incident at about 7pm, Wednesday, said the bus was robbed by about 30 armed robbers that invaded the bus at Ogudu. The victims said the armed robbers took advantage of the traffic gridlock in the area to carry out their operation. In what looked like an organised crime, one of the victims said on getting to Ogudu, at the diversion to both Alapere and Ketu, some boys were seen loitering around while others sat by the roadside unknown to them that they intended robbing innocent road users. He said “As the bus joined the traffic gridlock, one of the boys gained access into it to solicit for financial assistance. However, we were taken aback when he brought out a gun and ordered everybody to ‘cooperate’. “Some passengers, who were dissatisfied with this, rose to counter him, unfortunately, his accomplices numbering about 30 forcefully gained access into the bus carrying dangerous objects such as knives, axes, broken bottles and guns that caused apprehension among the passengers. The armed robbers announced their mission and called for the cooperation of the passengers. They then requested that we surrender everything in our possessions. Our cell phones, laptops, cash and several personal effects were carted away.” He said some of the robbers took their time to search the victims after which they disembarked from the bus. The second victim corroborating the first victim, said the incident was his second experience within a space of two months at the same area. He said the armed robbers extended their operation to other vehicles in the gridlock and at the end of the assignment, the drivers and conductors of the franchise bus were nowhere to be found and compounded movement out of the scene.
