Stoke City Rewards Mikel Obi with Contract Extension

Former Super Eagles Captain John Mikel Obi has signed a contract extension with Championship side with Stoke City.

The club announced that they reached agreement with the former Chelsea players t prong their relationship for mother twelve month.

Mikel who signed the the Potters last summer after leaving Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor is now expected to remain at the Bet 365 stadium until summer of 2022.

The 34-year-old played 41 times for the Potters in the 2020/21 season and was one of the most important players fkr the campaign.

“Contract extensions have been activated to retain the services of defender James Chester and midfielder John Obi Mikel,”reads a statement on the club website.

The former Middlesbrough midfielder will hoping to help the Club challenge for promotion back to the premier league next season.

Stoke City finished the just concluded campaign in 14th with 60 points from 46 matches.
