Former Super Eagles Striker, Emenike Questions Purported NFF budget for tournaments

Former Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike has questioned the N15B demand by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to participate in the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

NFF president, Amaju Pinnick previously stated that the federation would need at least N15 billion budget to enable the country participate in the major competitions. The news of the budget has been met with skepticism amongst both fans and former players. Former striker, Emenike took to his personal Instagram page to express his opinion on the issue. His opinion was supported by veteran Daniel Amokachi who indirectly inferred it was corruption

In the caption of his now deleted post, Emenike said, “Corruption. 15 billion for what?”
