Cross River Refuses To Allocate Land For Our Office – Immigration

Chris Baikie, the Comptroller of Immigration Service in Cross River State, has bemoaned the State government’s refusal to grant their request for 34 hectares of property in Calabar to build a big and adequate state headquarters.

He explained that the current state headquarters is now woefully inadequate for people and several offices.

He claimed that his predecessors had made repeated unsuccessful requests for land and gunboats to assist them in patrolling the maritime limits.

He stated that the government has been extremely hesitant to support or respond to their proposals, which should be a 50-50 win for both parties.

“The Cross River government is very reluctant to grant us allocation for the 34ha land to enable the Nigeria Immigration Service Cross River State Command move from its present cramped up location to a more spacious one that will be a Win-Win situation for all stakeholders!

“The government has also been silent on our request for gunboat which is to be used to secure marine interests of the state.”

Baikie said he was not resting on his oars as he has also approached their Service headquarters Abuja on the same issue of Gunboat.
