Video: Footballer punches female referee for booking his teammate
A crazy clip of a female referee being brutally attacked by a male player during a football match in Argentina has surfaced online. It happened at the weekend during a lower league game between Garmense and Deportivo Independencia in Buenos Aires.
Cristian Tirone of Garmense punched referee Dalma Magali Cortadi to the floor after she booked one of his teammates.
The disgraceful attack was quickly stopped by Cortadi’s fellow officials, but none of Tirone’s teammates nor players on the opposite team seemed to react.
A report from La Nacion states that the match was suspended after the referee was forced to abandon her position in order to seek hospital treatment. Several police officers also responded immediately and arrested Tirone.
Cortadi has called for the Garmense player to be banned from ever playing football again.

“You have to kick him out forever,” Cortadi told Argentine outlet Ole. “He should never be in any club. He is a violent person. He must also be in his daily life. I saw it on the video — a normal person does not do what this man did. No person deserves this. We don’t go to the pitch to be beaten. I hope he pays for what he did.”
Garmense have also released a club statement expressing their “strong rejection” of Tirone’s actions.
“The Institution expresses its solidarity with the referee who was attacked, expresses its apologies, makes itself available to her and commits to continue working to eradicate violence in all its forms and train athletes with values such as: discipline, camaraderie, commitment and, above all, respect and tolerance,” the statement read.
