This marks Buhari’s first interview since stepping down from the presidency on May 29, 2023.

During the interview, Buhari was asked about what he misses from his time as president, to which he responded with a candid, “Miss. I don’t think I miss much.” This statement reinforces his previous assertion that he would not miss his presidency due to feeling “harassed.”

Buhari had earlier expressed his views in December 2022, stating that despite his efforts for the Nigerian people, he felt his best was not good enough. He acknowledged the challenges he faced, leading him to believe that he was being harassed during his tenure.

The NTA released a teaser of the interview on its official X handle, offering a glimpse into Buhari’s reflections. The full version of the interview is scheduled to be broadcast on Monday at 10:30 pm, providing a comprehensive look at Buhari’s thoughts on his presidency and life after leaving office.

Throughout Buhari’s presidency from 2015 to 2021, he spent a significant amount of time on medical vacations in the United Kingdom. In total, he was away for 171 days, with the year 2017 alone accounting for 152 days. When questioned about the nature of his illness during his presidency, Buhari remarked, “I think only my doctor can honestly answer this question.”
