Odia Ofeimun Warns: Failure to Deliver Will Lead to Resistance

At a recent event organized by the Abuja chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors, renowned poet and intellectual Odia Ofeimun issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu. Ofeimun emphasized that if Tinubu fails to fulfill his duties and uphold what is right for the people, they will not hesitate to resist him.

Ofeimun highlighted the challenges facing Tinubu, particularly from forces in the West, which may hinder his efforts to prioritize the well-being of Nigerians. However, he made it clear that if Tinubu succumbs to pressure and neglects his responsibilities out of fear, the people will hold him accountable.

The poet stressed the importance of free education in Nigeria, asserting that it is essential for the development of society. Drawing comparisons with China and the United States, Ofeimun argued that societies offering free education tend to progress more rapidly.

He pointed out that education empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully to society, citing the example of Chinese advancement due to their emphasis on education accessibility. Ofeimun criticized the Nigerian leadership for not prioritizing education, which ultimately hampers the nation’s progress.
