Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Assaulting Minors

In a landmark ruling, the Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja has handed down a severe penalty to Ndedigwe Paul for his heinous crimes against minors. Found guilty of defilement and unlawful sexual intercourse with minors, Ndedigwe has been sentenced to double life imprisonment, underscoring the gravity of his offenses.

The verdict, delivered by Justice Abiola Soladoye on January 30, 2024, follows a meticulous trial where Ndedigwe was convicted on two out of three counts, in violation of Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015. Testimonies from the victims, coupled with compelling evidence presented by the prosecution led by Olufunke Adegoke and A.P Bolanle, played a pivotal role in securing the conviction.

Reports indicate that Ndedigwe lured the victims, who were in kindergarten at the time, into his room, where he committed acts of defilement. Described by Judge Soladoye as a “rough, crude, greedy paedophile,” Ndedigwe’s actions were deemed reprehensible, warranting a stringent punishment to deter similar offenses in the future.

The verdict represents a significant victory for victims of sexual violence, reaffirming the legal system’s dedication to holding offenders accountable and prioritizing the safety and well-being of children.
