Boko Haram Rampage: Policeman and Civilians Slain, Palace Torched in Yobe State Attacks

In a devastating series of assaults, Boko Haram insurgents have struck Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State, leaving a trail of death and destruction in their wake.

The horrifying attacks unfolded under the cover of darkness, as gunfire pierced the night in the village located just 17 kilometers from Damaturu, the bustling state capital.

Amidst the chaos, a mobile policeman bravely serving his community fell victim to the insurgents’ bullets, alongside two innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of terror.

Adding to the tragedy, the historic palace of the district head in Kukareta, a revered symbol of local heritage, was engulfed in flames, reduced to smoldering ruins by the merciless attackers.

Eyewitnesses, shaken by the harrowing ordeal, recounted scenes of terror as the marauding militants descended upon homes, ransacking dwellings, and setting ablaze everything in their path. Food stores were looted, and families fled in terror as their homes were consumed by the inferno of violence.

“We are devastated by the loss of three precious lives, including that of a valiant mobile police officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our community,” lamented a grief-stricken witness.

Confirming the grim events, Major General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), the state’s esteemed security adviser, issued a solemn statement condemning the brazen assault. He revealed that the suspected Boko Haram terrorists not only razed the historic palace of the district head but also targeted security forces, torching two patrol vehicles in their path of destruction.

The horror did not end there. The insurgents’ rampage extended to an election collation center in Kukareta, claiming the lives of another police officer and two civilians in a brutal display of violence.

In the face of such tragedy, Abdulsalam appealed to the resilient people of Yobe to stand united, offering unwavering support to security agencies as they endeavor to restore peace and security to the beleaguered region.
