Iran has successfully launched a domestically produced satellite, named Pars-1, into space from the Russian Vostochny Spaceport.

Equipped with cameras, the Pars-1 research satellite was launched into orbit at an altitude of 500 kilometers, according to reports from local media on Thursday. The launch was facilitated by a Russian Soyuz carrier rocket.

Iran has previously launched several satellites into space to gather data on various aspects such as weather patterns, natural disasters, and agricultural conditions. The country has consistently maintained that its space program is focused on peaceful objectives and not geared towards military purposes.

This latest launch follows Iran’s reported success in January of this year, when the Revolutionary Guards announced the first-ever successful satellite launch from Iranian soil.
