Christina Applegate Opens Up About Living with MS, Believes She Had It for Years Before Diagnosis

Christina Applegate finds herself unexpectedly united with a sisterhood she never sought. In a candid conversation on “Good Morning America,” aired on Wednesday, the “Dead To Me” star shared her journey of living with multiple sclerosis (MS) alongside her friend Jamie-Lynn Sigler, both grappling with the autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system.

Applegate revealed that Selma Blair, her co-star from “The Sweetest Thing,” diagnosed with MS in 2018, played a pivotal role in urging her to seek medical advice. Reflecting on Blair’s intervention, Applegate acknowledged, “If not for her, it could have been way worse.”

Despite being diagnosed in August 2021, Applegate admitted that she likely lived with MS for years prior to receiving a formal diagnosis. The realization prompted her to embark on a journey of understanding and acceptance.

Supporting each other through their shared experiences, Applegate and Sigler are now launching a podcast titled “Messy,” promising candid discussions about navigating life with MS and the inherent messiness of existence.

The launch of “Messy” signifies a pivotal moment for both women, offering a platform to share their stories authentically while fostering community and understanding.

The inaugural episode of “Messy” is set to debut on March 19, inviting audiences into a world of raw honesty and shared humanity.
