First Lady Remi Tinubu Asserts Fearlessness in Face of Threats: “I’m More Than 60 Years Old”

Remi Tinubu, the First Lady, has expressed her lack of fear in the face of recent threats to her life, stating that her age of over 60 years has instilled in her a sense of resilience and acceptance.

Speaking on Tuesday in response to comments made by Governor Bala Mohammed regarding the threats, Mrs. Tinubu thanked the governor for his assurance of her safety but emphasized her firm resolve not to be intimidated.

“I want to thank the Bauchi State governor for assuring me that I am safe, but I want to say that I am too old to be afraid. If God has granted me more than 60 years on earth, I shouldn’t be afraid of death,” she asserted.

Mrs. Tinubu’s remarks came after Governor Mohammed condemned the threats against her, labeling them a “national embarrassment.” He expressed disappointment that such threats originated from someone within Bauchi State and assured the First Lady that the perpetrator would face consequences.

Addressing Mrs. Tinubu directly, Governor Mohammed praised her contributions to Nigerian politics and commended her courage in the face of adversity.

“I want to apologise to the First Lady over the incident and assure her that the person will not be spared,” he affirmed.

In response, Mrs. Tinubu reaffirmed her commitment to unity and solidarity in Nigeria, urging citizens to unite during challenging times.

“This is the time for us to unite more than ever before,” she stated.

The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Biliyamin, also weighed in on the matter, dispelling misconceptions about the peace and stability of Bauchi State. He welcomed Mrs. Tinubu’s visit as a symbol of progress and harmony in the region.
