Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, famously known as Terry G, Akpako Master, or Ginjah Master, has stirred controversy by asserting that marriage may not be suitable for musicians due to its potential impact on their fanbase.

Speaking as a guest on the latest episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Terry G expressed his belief that being married could hinder a musician’s relationship with their opposite-sex fans, whom he referred to as the “juice of the music industry.”

Terry G emphasized the significance of female fans in the music industry, suggesting that without their support, the industry would lack excitement. He argued that marriage could restrict interactions with female fans, potentially diminishing the artist’s appeal and influence.

According to Terry G, public announcement of marriage could lead to a decline in a musician’s female fanbase, as it might alter perceptions and decrease their popularity. He highlighted a common saying in Nigeria that once someone gets married, they are considered “out of the market,” implying a loss of appeal in the eyes of admirers.

Expressing his perspective on the matter, Terry G stated, “If I get married, it would restrict me from my female fans.” He further elaborated, “Females are the base of the music, they are the juice of the music industry. Remove them and you are bored.”
