The evening’s most awarded production was David Adjmi’s “Stereophonic,” which secured five wins out of its 13 nominations. Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ “Appropriate” garnered three awards, while Alicia Keys’ “Hell’s Kitchen” took home two from its ten nominations.
Special Tony Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre were bestowed upon Jack O’Brien and George C. Wolfe. Additionally, Abe Jacob, Alex Edelman, and Nikiya Mathis received Special Tony Awards for their contributions.
Several organizations and individuals were honored for Excellence in the Theatre, including Colleen Jennings-Roggensack, the Dramatists Guild Foundation, Judith O. Rubin, the Samuel J. Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts, Wendall K. Harrington, and The Wilma Theater.
