SZA Announces Break from Performing to Focus on Personal Life

After an extensive festival tour and a global run promoting her acclaimed album *SOS*, R&B star SZA has announced she will be taking a break from live performances. The singer made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) following her headlining performance at Montreal’s Osheaga Festival.

In her post, SZA shared, “Yesterday was my last show for a while. Finally bout to get my life together thank u God.” Her message came shortly after she reposted a fan’s compliment praising the energy of her recent performances. SZA responded, “This makes me so happy cause that’s all I’m tryna do !! I jus wanna capture yalls energy mix it up w mine add some love and throw it back,” expressing her gratitude for the enthusiastic support from her fans.

Throughout the summer, SZA has been performing at major festivals including Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and Glastonbury. Her SOS tour, which ran from February 2023 to May 2024, saw her performing 63 shows worldwide. Her album *SOS* was named the best album of the year by Rolling Stone.

Despite taking a break from the stage, SZA remains active in the music scene. She has been teasing new projects, including an album titled *Lana* and a collaboration with Paramore. During her Lollapalooza set, she debuted a new track called “Cry Baby,” hinting that it will be released in the future. She also promised to release a deluxe version of *SOS* with leaks and outtakes, writing on X in March, “Will be dropping the leaks and outtakes from SOS as promised as the deluxe asap.”

Over the weekend, SZA shared a video of Chappell Roan’s Lollapalooza performance on Instagram, captioning it, “She makes me wanna keep making new music n art forever.” This underscores her continued passion for creating music even as she steps back from performing.
