Alexx Ekubo Appeals to President Tinubu for Urgent Economic Reforms

Nigerian actor Alexx Ekubo has made a heartfelt appeal to President Bola Tinubu and other leaders, urging them to address the worsening economic crisis in Nigeria. On August 9, 2024, Ekubo shared a poignant video on Instagram featuring photos he took with children in Kaduna State while filming the movie Almajiri in 2021.

In his Instagram post, Ekubo reflected on the economic challenges faced by Nigerians, highlighting how conditions have deteriorated significantly since 2021. His caption conveyed a deep sense of urgency and frustration, as he called for immediate action from the government to improve the country’s dire situation.

Ekubo wrote, “I took this photo on February 23, 2021, in Kaduna while filming #Almajiri. It’s shocking to see how much worse things have become since then. The situation is now truly critical. For the love of God, can our leaders please act correctly and come through for us this one time?”

He continued, “Nigeria is currently experiencing its worst economic downturn in over three decades, with inflation reaching record highs. This has led to widespread hunger and suffering. All we ask for is a better standard of living. We simply want to eat and travel affordably and reasonably. We don’t care about the political landscape; we need help now. We are facing a serious crisis.”

Ekubo expressed his frustration directly to President Tinubu, calling for urgent measures to alleviate the suffering of ordinary Nigerians. He emphasized the need for significant reductions in electricity tariffs and fuel prices, as well as a decrease in the foreign exchange rate to stabilize the Naira.

He pleaded with the President, saying, “Please, Mr. President, this is your chance to make a lasting impact. We are all begging for relief. If you are not going to give us the opportunity to lead, then at least lead us well. This is a critical moment, and immediate action is needed.”

Ekubo’s plea underscores the growing frustration among Nigerians who are struggling under the weight of severe economic hardship and highlights the urgent need for effective government intervention to address these challenges.
