BBNaija’s Alex Unusual Shares Heart-Wrenching Story of Bullying and Abuse During School Days

Big Brother Naija star Alex Unusual recently opened up about the traumatic experiences she endured during her secondary school years. In a candid interview on the ‘Unpack’ podcast, Alex shared deeply personal stories about the abuse and bullying she faced, both at home and in school, that significantly impacted her life.

Alex recalled how her aunt once accused her of trying to harm their pigs simply because she gave them clean water instead of dirty water. She explained, “My aunty flogged me for giving their pigs clean water to drink instead of dirty water. How in the name of the Lord am I supposed to go and get dirty water for something that is living?” Despite her good intentions, Alex was accused of intentionally trying to kill the pigs, a claim that left her deeply hurt and confused.

The reality TV star also revealed how she was unfairly labeled a thief, a stigma that followed her due to circumstances beyond her control. She recounted how her aunt’s punishments often made her the last person to leave the hostel in the mornings, which led to her being blamed whenever something went missing. “I went to class one day and everybody started to beat me. They asked me ‘Which biscuit did I eat in class today?’ I told them I had not even eaten all day. Everybody just landed on me,” Alex shared, adding that the accusations were false, but no one believed her.

The situation escalated when her classmates found provisions belonging to a senior in her locker, which led to more physical and emotional abuse. Alex even confided in her mother about the unfair treatment, but the pain of being wrongly accused and mistreated lingered. A friend once questioned if Alex had a compulsion to steal, suggesting she needed to undergo prayers at a church, a suggestion that only added to her distress.

Alex’s story is a poignant reminder of the lasting effects of bullying and abuse, and her bravery in speaking out is a testament to her strength and resilience.
