BBNaija S9: Mickey Admits to Lying About Age and Apologizes for Misjudging Housemates
Evicted Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate Mickey has revealed that he lied about his age during his time on the show. In a candid post-eviction interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Mickey admitted that he told his fellow housemates he was 28 years old when he was actually 24.
Mickey’s confession sheds light on why he chose to misrepresent his age. He explained that he felt compelled to lie because of Ozee’s frequent focus on age in their conversations. Mickey mentioned that Ozee would often bring up age-related comments, which made him uncomfortable. For instance, Ozee had once remarked that he had been in Nigeria before Mickey was born, which added to Mickey’s apprehension.
“I’m 24 years old. I lied to Ozee that I’m 28 because of the kind of person he is. He likes to bring age into every conversation,” Mickey said. He further explained that this lie was a strategic move to avoid unnecessary tension and conflicts related to age differences.
In addition to addressing the age lie, Mickey took the opportunity to apologize for his behavior towards fellow housemate Wanni. He admitted that he had misjudged her personality, initially believing she was less kind-hearted than she turned out to be. Mickey had previously expressed a desire to force Wanni and her twin sister, Handi, to exit the show voluntarily, accusing them of being “rude.”
“I wouldn’t lie; it took me a long time to understand that Wanni actually has a soft heart. Apologies for that. Wanni is a very, very soft girl,” Mickey said, acknowledging his mistake in misjudging her character.
