Joke Silva Recounts Final Moments with Late Onyeka Onwenu

Veteran actress Joke Silva has shared her emotional account of the final moments she spent with late singer Onyeka Onwenu before her sudden death in July 2024. Onwenu tragically passed after collapsing at the 80th birthday celebration of Emzor Pharmaceuticals CEO, Stella Okolie.

In a heartfelt interview with media personality WithChude, Silva revealed that they were seated together at the event when Onwenu performed her iconic song, One Love. The singer invited Silva to join her in a brief dance before returning to their seats. Not long after, Onwenu collapsed.

“She was unconscious but still had a pulse,” Silva recalled, adding that CPR was performed and doctors in attendance attempted to revive her. Sadly, despite being taken to the hospital, Onwenu passed away after nearly two hours.

Onyeka Onwenu was laid to rest on August 30 at the Ebony Vaults in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
