Tito Jackson, Brother of Michael Jackson, Dies at 70

Tito Jackson, the brother of the late pop icon Michael Jackson and a founding member of the legendary Jackson 5, has passed away at the age of 70. The tragic news was confirmed by his children, TJ, Taj, and Taryll, who shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram announcing the loss of their beloved father.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being,” the statement read.

Tito, born Toriano Adaryll Jackson on October 15, 1953, in Gary, Indiana, was a crucial figure in the Jackson family’s rise to musical stardom. As a member of the Jackson 5, alongside his brothers Michael, Jermaine, Jackie, and Marlon, Tito played an integral role in shaping the family’s success in the music industry. The group gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s, releasing iconic hits like “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I’ll Be There.”

Although initial reports suggest that Tito passed away from an apparent heart attack, the Jackson family has not yet confirmed the official cause of death.

Tito Jackson’s contributions to the Jackson 5 earned the band a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, cementing their legacy in the music industry. The group was also honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, further solidifying their influence on pop culture.

His passing marks another profound loss for the Jackson family, following Michael Jackson’s death in 2009. Tito’s legacy, like his brothers’, will continue to live on through the music and memories he helped create.
