NECO Releases 2024 Results: How to Check Your NECO Result
The National Examination Council (NECO) has officially released the results for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). This announcement comes after the exams were conducted in June. NECO’s Registrar, Professor Dantano Wushishi, shared the news on Thursday, September 19, 2024, and confirmed that the results are now available online for candidates to access.
Many students have been eagerly awaiting their results, as some may have missed out on university admissions due to the delay. With most universities having already closed their admission portals, this delay could impact their chances of enrollment this year. However, candidates can now check their NECO results online through the NECO website using the newly introduced result checker token.
In terms of performance, the NECO registrar provided a breakdown of the results. Out of the 1,376,436 students who sat for the exam, 60.55%—which is 828,284 candidates—secured credits in both English Language and Mathematics. Additionally, 83.9% of the total candidates achieved five credits and above in all subjects, regardless of whether they included English and Mathematics. NECO also made special provisions for 2,267 students with special needs.
The 2024 SSCE exams were held from June 19 to July 26, while the marking process took place between August 19 and September 8. This year, the examination body recorded a reduction in cases of malpractice, with 8,437 incidents reported, down from 12,030 in 2023. This represents a significant improvement in the integrity of the exams.
NECO also revealed which states performed best in the 2024 exams. Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi states led the way with the highest results, while Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Borno, and Zamfara were among the lowest-performing states.
To access their results, students will need a “result checker token” which can be used up to five times before it expires. NECO clarified that after the token is used five times, candidates who wish to check their results again must use the NECO E-verify result verification portal.
