Mike Bamiloye Recounts Early Marriage Financial Struggles, Credits Grace for Wedding

Mike Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, has opened up about the financial struggles he and his wife, Gloria, faced during their early years of marriage. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the clergyman recalled how grace and the kindness of loved ones helped them through their wedding and early days together.

Bamiloye revealed that they had little financial means leading up to their wedding. His best man provided him with a suit, while his sister-in-law gifted him shoes and socks. Despite these generous gestures, they couldn’t afford the ₦170 needed for a court marriage, leaving them without a government-issued marriage certificate for many years.

“I couldn’t even take my wife on a honeymoon,” Bamiloye wrote. “We stayed in a flat that my big sister rented for us because we had no other place to go.”

He further recounted how a sister from their ministry gave them the money to rent a wedding gown after they initially couldn’t afford it. The financial struggles continued after the wedding, with all the money they received going toward settling debts with the printer who made their wedding programs.

Despite the hardships, Bamiloye emphasized the importance of marrying someone who wouldn’t put unnecessary pressure on him, praising his wife, Gloria, for her understanding and grace.

“We had no money just two days after our wedding, and we were looking for a ‘lift’ to a drama ministration,” he shared. “But here we are, sponsored by grace. Glory be to God for GLORIA!”
