Nollywood Actor Yomi Fabiyi Flees Nigeria After Assassination Attempt Over Mohbad Case

Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has reportedly fled Nigeria following an alleged attempt on his life. The actor, who has been vocal in the fight for justice for the late singer Mohbad, shared the news of his escape after missing a planned protest and his absence at the coroner’s court.

Fabiyi had scheduled a protest for Monday, September 30, 2024, coinciding with the resumption of the coroner’s investigation into Mohbad’s death. However, in a video posted on Instagram, the actor revealed that his life was in danger after narrowly escaping an assassination attempt two days prior.

In the video, a visibly shaken Fabiyi explained that the plot against him was connected to his involvement in seeking justice for Mohbad. “I escaped assassination two days ago, and they still planned to kill me tonight. If they had succeeded, I would have been buried tomorrow,” he said. Fabiyi further emphasized that he had not accepted any money for his advocacy, stating that he was acting out of personal conviction and faith.
