Fireboy: Music Beef is Normal, Says It’s Part of Being Human
Nigerian singer, Fireboy DML, recently shared his thoughts on the ongoing conflicts between artists in the Nigerian music industry, particularly between popular stars like Wizkid and Davido. In a recent interview on City FM, Fireboy explained that disagreements in music are a natural occurrence and part of the human experience. According to him, artists are humans first, and just like anyone else, they have emotions and personal conflicts.
Fireboy emphasized that fans and the media should allow artists to handle their issues while staying focused on their own lives. He advised that everyone should play their role, saying, “Everyone should just focus on what concerns them. Let artists be artists, fans be fans, and the media keep telling the stories.” He added that beef between artists is normal, and it’s not something that should be blown out of proportion.
The conflict between Wizkid and Davido, two of Nigeria’s biggest music stars, has been a topic of conversation in the media for some time. Fireboy acknowledged that such disagreements have always existed in the music industry, but he prefers to stay out of the drama. He mentioned that he lives a peaceful, drama-free life and focuses on his music instead of getting involved in industry conflicts.
Fireboy also spoke about his recently released fourth studio album titled Adedamola, which features collaborations with several big names, including Lagbaja, Jon Baptiste, Seun Kuti, and Spinall. He mentioned that the idea to work with Lagbaja and Seun Kuti came from Olamide, the YBNL boss, who served as the executive producer of the album. Fireboy expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with these legends and said it was a rewarding experience for his career.
Conflicts between artists are not new in Nigerian music. Over the years, there have been several feuds between musicians, but despite these disagreements, the industry continues to grow. Fireboy’s perspective on beef being a normal part of the music world shows his mature understanding of the industry and his desire to stay focused on what truly matters—his music and career.
