Halima Abubakar Suspended by Actors Guild of Nigeria Over Professional Misconduct

Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has been suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) due to alleged professional misconduct. The AGN announced that Abubakar’s suspension follows a secret investigation spanning two years, during which the actress was accused of tarnishing the image of Nollywood.

The Guild revealed in a statement on Friday that Abubakar was involved in spreading false information about her colleagues and high-profile individuals. The investigation, conducted by the Special Secret Investigation Panel, uncovered that the actress was responsible for slandering her peers, associates, and patrons, including making allegations of extramarital affairs with influential figures.

The AGN emphasized that the suspension is indefinite, and Abubakar will face the National Disciplinary Committee to determine the extent of her punishment. The suspension also bars her from participating in any guild or filming activities until further notice.

In addition to Abubakar’s case, the AGN noted that other female members are also under investigation. This follows the recent release of names linked to alleged dealings with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, with the panel continuing its inquiries.

The Guild’s decision marks a significant development in efforts to maintain professional conduct within the Nollywood industry, as they continue to scrutinize other members for similar misconduct.
