Skales Criticizes Nigerian Police Over Multiple Checkpoints on Orchid Road

Nigerian musician Skales has voiced strong criticism of the Nigerian police, accusing them of setting up too many checkpoints, especially on Orchid Road. Taking to the social media platform X on October 28, 2024, he expressed his frustrations about what he perceives as police abuse of power, claiming that officers mistreat citizens and specifically target drivers of luxury cars for bribes.

In his post, Skales shared his long-standing grievances with the police, highlighting their tendency to profile drivers, particularly those in high-end vehicles like Benz cars. He pointed out that officers often stop cars under the guise of routine checks but then allegedly demand bribes or hurl insults at drivers who do not comply.

Skales also questioned the numerous police checkpoints along Orchid Road, noting that three to four are often set up within a very short distance. Fed up with the constant harassment, he mentioned his plan to start wearing a body camera to record his interactions with police officers, stating that he would post the footage online if necessary.
