Davido Sets New Record for Most-Watched TikTok Live Stream in Africa
Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has set a new record for the most-watched TikTok live stream in Africa, reaching an impressive 389,800 viewers in total. This milestone was achieved during a live stream held on Wednesday, October 30, where Davido joined forces with popular TikTok stars Peller, Jarvis, and Jo Blaq as co-hosts.
At its peak, more than 164,000 people tuned in simultaneously, marking the stream as one of the most popular live broadcasts on the platform across Africa. During the live session, Davido received over 377 “lion gifts” from fans, each gift valued at $400. In a generous gesture, he announced that he would distribute the earnings from these gifts to his co-hosts, Peller, Jarvis, and Jo Blaq.
Before Davido’s record-breaking event, TikTok star Peller held the record for the highest viewership for a live stream in Africa. His previous record-setting stream had featured another popular Nigerian musician, Tiwa Savage. With Davido now holding the title, his achievement has further cemented his popularity on social media and within the music industry.
Davido’s accomplishment highlights his strong fanbase and influence on social media, particularly on TikTok, where live-streaming events have become a popular way for celebrities to connect directly with fans. This record-breaking event not only demonstrates Davido’s reach but also showcases how live streaming is evolving in Africa, bringing artists and fans closer together in real time.
