Portable Celebrates Recognition and Award in Canada
Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, continues to make waves both locally and internationally, recently earning recognition from the Canadian government. Portable, also known as Omolalomi Zazuu, expressed his excitement on Instagram after receiving the Corporation of the City of Brampton award. In his post, he thanked the Canadian government, the city of Brampton, and Canadian officials for the honor, sharing, “Finally, Portable Omolalomi Zazuu in Canada, I just want to say thank you to the Canadian government and the city of Brampton.”
This award follows Portable’s recent success in securing a 10-year work permit in Canada, which allows him to travel freely for performances. The artist expressed his excitement, sharing that he can now engage with fans across Canada over the coming decade. In a previous post, Portable credited his faith for this achievement, stating that with God, “anything is possible.”
The journey to Canada hasn’t been without its challenges. Just two years ago, Portable’s Canadian visa application faced setbacks due to an event consultant’s complaint regarding his behavior. This led to his removal from an event lineup, and his visa was initially denied. However, Portable’s resilience and growing fanbase have continued to propel him forward despite controversies surrounding his public persona.
This recent recognition isn’t the first international accolade for Portable. Last year, he received an award in the United States for Best New Act of the Year. Reflecting on his career, Portable shared that these honors validate his efforts and are proof that he’s on the right path, despite the challenges and controversies that have marked his journey.
