Singer Jaywon Apologizes to Ayra Starr Following Grammy Snub Post

Nigerian singer Jaywon has issued an apology to fellow artist Ayra Starr after he faced criticism for an online post that many saw as mocking her absence from this year’s Grammy nominations. The recent announcement of nominees for the 67th Grammy Awards left Ayra Starr out, despite her successful year and popularity. Soon after, Jaywon shared a photo of himself holding two Grammy awards, which some fans interpreted as a subtle dig at the singer.

Responding to the backlash, Jaywon clarified his intentions and extended a public apology to Ayra Starr. He expressed his admiration for her talent and described her as one of Africa’s top female vocalists. In his statement, Jaywon assured fans that he doesn’t seek to undermine other artists but instead aims to uplift them.

“If you see Ayra Starr, tell her I’m sorry she wasn’t nominated for this year’s Grammys,” he wrote. “I’m a huge fan of her music, and I believe she’s one of the best female vocalists Africa has.
