Big Berry uses music to spread love and peace

Emerging music sensation Musa Abdulmalik Oyarekhau, better known as Big Berry, has recently shared insights into his musical journey, passions, and the vision he holds for the future of the music industry. Big Berry’s journey into music began in his secondary school days, where his friends gave him the nickname “Malikberry.” This name later evolved into “Big Berry” when he entered Auchi Polytechnic, symbolizing both his growth and his increasing passion for music.

Reflecting on his humble beginnings, Big Berry recalls that his upbringing was challenging, but his mother, Fatima, instilled in him the importance of treating the world with love and peace. Born in Edo State, Nigeria, Big Berry comes from a large family, with 12 siblings and a stepmother. Despite the challenges, his family’s values shaped his perspective on life and music.

As an Afrobeat and hip-hop artist, Big Berry aims to use his music as a tool for unity and positivity. “I want my songs to inspire love and peace,” he shared. He looks up to influential figures in the music industry, such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Rema, drawing inspiration from their success and the way they’ve shaped global music.

When asked about the challenges he faces in his career, Big Berry stated, “The only challenge is between me and me; every day, I strive to become better.” His greatest joy comes from the creative process in the studio, where he pours his heart into crafting music that reflects his values. Despite the ongoing economic hardships in 2024, Big Berry has experienced significant growth, feeling more confident and determined to achieve his goals.

Fans of the artist can look forward to his debut EP, set for release by the end of the year. Big Berry promises an “amazing” musical experience, with the EP focused on spreading love and peace. He also expressed his belief that government support for the entertainment industry is essential, advocating for creative schools and sponsorship programs to nurture and support talented artists.

Looking ahead to 2025, Big Berry’s main focus will be promoting his upcoming EP and continuing his mission to use music as a platform for positivity. As he excitedly put it, “My EP is coming!”
