Wizkid Drops 6th Album Morayo as Tribute to Late Mother

Grammy-winning Nigerian artist, Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, released his much-anticipated sixth studio album, Morayo, on November 22. The 16-track album is a deeply emotional tribute to his late mother, Juliana Morayo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023. The title of the album, Morayo, translates to “I see joy” in Yoruba, reflecting the artist’s attempt to honor his mother’s legacy while dealing with the pain of her loss.

Earlier this year, Wizkid expressed his excitement about the project, calling it “the best album I ever made” and urging fans to “listen” as he promised it would only get better from here. His fans were eager to hear the album, which has been a long time coming.

Morayo features a stellar lineup of collaborations with well-known artists. Some of the highlights include Piece of My Heart with Brent Faiyaz, Bad Girl with Asake, Après Minuit with Tiakola, Bad For You with Jazmine Sullivan, and Slow with Anaïs. These tracks blend Wizkid’s signature Afrobeats style with the diverse sounds of global stars, creating an album full of rich melodies and vibrant energy.

This album marks another significant chapter in Wizkid’s musical journey, as it not only celebrates his artistry but also serves as a heartfelt remembrance of the woman who played a key role in his life. As fans around the world celebrate this release, they join Wizkid in honoring his mother’s memory through the music that continues to define his career.
