Davido Shares How His Father’s Lessons Keep Him Motivated

Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently shared a powerful lesson he learned from his father that has helped him navigate through life’s challenges. Davido explained that growing up in a Christian home, his father instilled in him the importance of never questioning God, no matter the circumstances. He recalled how his father, a successful businessman and an elder in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, always encouraged him to trust in God’s plan, even during tough times. “My dad is very successful, but he’s an elder in the church. I grew up as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. I attended a Christian college,” he shared.

Despite his strong upbringing, Davido confessed that he initially struggled to understand this lesson. He admitted to feeling angry at life’s challenges, especially when things seemed unfair, asking himself why bad things happen to good people. “I was like, ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’” he recalled. However, as he grew older and faced personal tragedies, like the loss of his son, Ifeanyi, the lesson started to make sense.

Davido revealed that the year following his son’s death, his life took a positive turn. He and his wife welcomed twins, and his career soared with the release of his biggest album to date, along with his first Grammy nominations. This series of events led him to realize the deeper meaning behind his father’s advice. “People go through different challenges, but just know that God has your back,” he said, reflecting on how faith and perseverance have played a central role in his journey.
