FirstBank Launches Bluu TV to Support Nigeria’s Creative Arts Industry

FirstBank has launched a new entertainment hub, Bluu TV, marking a significant step in its ongoing commitment to supporting Nigeria’s creative arts sector. The launch event, which took place on Friday, also featured the premiere of an original series on the platform, *A Heart on the Line*. Segun Alebiosu, Managing Director/CEO of FirstBank, highlighted the importance of the creative arts industry in driving Nigeria’s economic growth and creating job opportunities.

At the launch, which was attended by key industry figures, Alebiosu was represented by Idowu Thompson, Group Executive of Private Banking and Wealth Management. Thompson emphasized FirstBank’s longstanding support for the arts through initiatives like the First@Arts program, which has sponsored major cultural events such as the stage play Kurunmi and the Lagos International Theatre Festival.

Thompson shared the event’s excitement, stating, “It is such an honor to be part of this historical yet exciting event.” He reiterated that FirstBank recognizes the transformative power of the creative arts in shaping culture, promoting societal values, and inspiring positive change. The launch of Bluu TV, according to Thompson, is a milestone not only for the bank but also for Nigeria’s entertainment industry, as it provides a platform for African entertainment, lifestyle content, and drama.

Abimbola Craig, the director and producer of *A Heart on the Line*, expressed gratitude to FirstBank for its unwavering support. She reflected on the two-and-a-half-year journey of bringing the project to life, acknowledging the bank’s commitment to the filmmaking process, which helped bring Bluu TV and its content to fruition.
