Tyson Fury Retires from Boxing After Legendary Career

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing, marking the end of an illustrious career. The 36-year-old Briton, known for his charismatic personality and resilience in the ring, shared the news in a heartfelt statement, saying, “I’ve loved every single minute of it and I’m going to end with this; Dick Turpin wore a mask.”

Fury’s last fight was in December, where he lost a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk, the reigning WBA (Super), WBC, and WBO champion. With a record of 34 wins, two defeats, and one draw, Fury has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of his generation.

Fury first rose to prominence in 2015 when he defeated Wladimir Klitschko, claiming multiple heavyweight titles. After a hiatus to address mental health struggles, he returned in 2018 and reclaimed championship glory by defeating Deontay Wilder in 2020 for the WBC belt.

Frank Warren, Fury’s promoter, expressed his support for the decision, stating, “He’s done everything he can do. Probably been the best British heavyweight of his generation by far. He’s become a world star with exciting fights and an incredible journey.”
