Speed Darlington Breaks Silence After Release, Issues Warning

Nigerian musician and controversial content creator, Darlington Achakpo Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington or AKPI, has officially broken his silence after his release from Kuje prison. In a cryptic message posted on his Instagram on January 23, 2025, Speed Darlington shared a video of two bulls fighting, with the caption, “I am back!”

In the video, he explains, “Two bulls fighting. One steps back. It’s not running away. It went back to gather energy and launch back with banger.” This message reflects his determination and resilience as he makes his return to the public eye.

In a subsequent post, Speed Darlington expressed his gratitude towards his legal practitioner, Mazi David Ihuoma Esq., for his support. The artist hinted at an ongoing legal battle, revealing that he plans to seek compensation for the violation of his human rights, demanding 300 million naira. He added, “We will drag them more than Stanley and I dragged that bank that violated me two years ago.”

Speed Darlington’s release comes after nearly two months of incarceration in Kuje prison. He was granted bail of 20 million naira by a federal high court in Abuja on January 22, 2025. His lawyer, Stan Alieke, shared photos with the artist, confirming his freedom and revealing plans to pursue legal action against the Nigerian police for what they described as “illegal incarceration.”

The controversial musician was re-arrested on November 27, 2024, while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, following accusations of cyberstalking Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy. Speed Darlington’s return marks the beginning of what promises to be a high-profile legal and public battle.
