Victor Osimhen Accused of Punching Journalist in Istanbul
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is facing allegations of assaulting a journalist during a late-night outing in Istanbul, Turkey. The incident reportedly occurred as Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, was leaving an entertainment venue with friends.
According to reports from Posta newspaper, a group of reporters, including journalist Tolga Bozduman, attempted to photograph the Nigerian football star. However, the situation quickly escalated into a heated altercation.
Bozduman recounted the incident, stating, “I filmed Osimhen at the door with three of my colleagues. When the flashes went off, all hell broke loose. He ran towards me, screaming, and tried to take my camera. I didn’t let him, and then he punched me in the head. My right side still hurts. He also started swearing at me.”
The journalist further alleged that Osimhen offered money to destroy the footage, saying, “Destroy the footage, I’ll give you money.” When Bozduman refused, he claimed Osimhen threatened him, saying, “I’ll destroy you.”
These allegations have not yet been addressed by Osimhen or his club, Galatasaray. The incident has drawn attention from fans and media alike, though no official statement has been released.
Despite the controversy, Osimhen continues to perform impressively on the pitch. The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form for Galatasaray, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists in 19 matches across all competitions.
The accusations have sparked widespread debate, with many awaiting further clarification or a response from the footballer or his team.
