AFCON: Sadio Mane and Cape Verde Goalkeeper in Hospital after Head Collision

The Liverpool star was playing for Senegal against Cape Verde in their round of 16 bout when he had a head collision trying to get an aerial ball with the opposition’s goalkeeper. Mane appeared to be knocked unconscious after being clattered by Josimar Dias in the 52nd minute of the game, the Cape Verde keeper being sent off as a result.

Astonishingly, Mane was allowed to stay on the field, and scored a beautiful curled strike in the 63rd minute – before finally being replaced a few minutes later as Senegal went on to win the game 2-0 and reach the quarter-finals.

The both players are reported to be currently undergoing treatment to which they are responding well.
