Air Peace becomes first African airline to fly new E195-E2 aircraft

Air Peace airline yesterday made history by becoming the first airline to add E195-E2 to their fleet in Africa when it took delivery of a brand new E195-E2 directly from Embraer facility in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil.

Yesterday’s delivery is the first on 13 of the jet type that the airline placed firm order for from Embraer and expected to be delivered before the end of the first quater of the year.

Meanwhile, the 13 new aircraft are expected to create 18,000 additional jobs for the country.

The new aircraft, with registration number 5N-BYF, named Helen Ekwui Onyema, touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja at about 2.00pm and was greeted with a water canon salute by men of the Fire Service Department of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN.

Receiving the aircraft at Abuja Airport, the Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, thanked the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari for making the delivery of the ordered plane possible.

Onyema revealed that the airline would not pay Value Added Tax, VAT and Customs duties in the new tax regime of the federal government on the new planes, describing that as a big financial relief to the airline.
