Airline Operators Cancel Nationwide Shutdown

The Airline Operators of Nigeria, AON, says it has suspended the earlier decision to shut down flights beginning from Monday, May 9.

Flormedia recalls that the AON had in a statement vowed to shut down operations following the high cost of aviation fuel.

But the president of the AON, Alhaji Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, in a statement on Sunday, announced that airlines would continue operations as usual.

According to him, the development followed a deliberation with the Federal Government on how to tackle the fuel issue.

The operators had earlier explained that the hike in the price of aviation fuel, which they described as “totally unsustainable” necessitated the need to suspend operations.
