Akinwunmi Ambode Dispels Notion of Tinubu’s Responsibility for Economic Woes

In a recent address at the 2024 Leadership Colloquium and Award organized by the Akinjide Adeosun Foundation (AAF) at Alliance Francaise in Lagos, former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, refuted the notion that President Bola Tinubu is solely responsible for the current economic challenges in Nigeria.

Ambode asserted that Nigerians need to confront the prevailing hardship and economic difficulties head-on rather than attributing them solely to a single individual. He urged citizens to gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental issues facing the country to move beyond the blame game.

During his speech, the ex-governor emphasized that the economic challenges faced by Nigeria are not solely the result of the actions of one person, including President Tinubu. He stressed the importance of addressing the root causes of the problems to find sustainable solutions.

“It has nothing to do with the singular person called Mr President; but if we don’t understand the fundamentals, we will start playing the blame games. We need to face our problems frontally,” Ambode stated.

Ambode highlighted the need for a collective effort in addressing the challenges, emphasizing that blaming individuals will not lead to the resolution of complex issues. He noted that finding fault without understanding the underlying problems would perpetuate a cycle of unproductive discourse.

“The major issue is that we are even tired of not fixing our issues. Now, we have found somebody that has decided in person of President Tinubu. Until we decide ourselves to say that we should unite for the common cause called Nigeria, the security issues will not go,” Ambode expressed.

In conclusion, Ambode called for a united front to tackle the challenges faced by the nation. He urged citizens to approach national issues with a positive mindset and work collectively towards a better Nigeria, emphasizing that the words and beliefs about the country play a significant role in shaping its destiny.
