Alaafin of Oyo Dissolves Unauthorized Coronation Committee
The new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owode, has dissolved an unapproved coronation committee allegedly formed without his consent.
In a statement issued from Ibadan on Wednesday, the monarch warned that any further meetings or activities by the unauthorized group would be considered illegal and would not be tolerated.
Oba Owode emphasized the importance of following due process, stating that any committee or event related to his coronation must first receive official approval from his office.
“Let it be known to all that any committee or activity established without the prior consent and approval of His Imperial Majesty and his office shall be considered unauthorized and will not be permitted to exist,” the statement read.
The monarch ordered all individuals involved in the unauthorized committee to immediately halt their activities. He also clarified that any fundraising efforts related to the coronation would be managed solely by the royal family, which would determine the composition of any official committee if needed.
While appreciating the efforts of those involved, Oba Owode reiterated that all coronation-related initiatives must receive his approval before being made public. He assured the community that official updates on contributions and preparations would be communicated in due course.
