Ambrose Alli University Management Sets the Record Straight Amidst ASUU Salary Dispute

The management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has issued a firm rebuttal against claims of outstanding staff salaries amidst the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) crisis.

Responding to ASUU’s assertions of 26 months of salary arrears made during a press conference in Benin City, the university management staunchly affirmed that all staff salaries have been meticulously settled up to the current date.

In a statement delivered by the Head of Communication and Protocol, Otunba Mike Aladenika, the university management categorically refuted any claims of staff deaths resulting from salary non-payment, challenging ASUU to substantiate such allegations with concrete evidence.

Aladenika underscored the prompt disbursement of February 2024 salaries to both staff and pensioners, casting doubt on the accuracy of ASUU’s assertions and urging transparency regarding the identities of the purportedly owed individuals.

Addressing ASUU’s reference to unpaid salaries, Aladenika clarified that the eight months’ salary owed during a strike period was governed by a no-work-no-pay policy, emphasizing the management’s adherence to legal frameworks in resolving grievances.

He emphasized the university’s competitive standing and articulated a proactive approach to ensuring AAU’s continued advancement while actively engaging with the issues raised by ASUU within the judicial framework.

The statement reiterated the management’s steadfast commitment to transparency, accountability, and constructive dialogue in resolving disputes and fostering the university’s growth for the collective benefit of all stakeholders.
