AMVCA Winner Layi Wasabi Rejects “Girlfriend” Concept, Prefers Partnership

Isaac Olayiwola, popularly known as Layi Wasabi, a Nigerian comedian and actor, recently shared his unconventional views on relationships, stating that he does not believe in the concept of having a “girlfriend.” Speaking on the “Is This Seat Taken?” podcast hosted by actress Chinasa Anukam, the 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards Best Online Content Creator winner expressed his preference for the term “partnership” over “girlfriend.”

Layi Wasabi elaborated on his stance, explaining that he begins his relationships with courtship rather than adopting the conventional dating approach. He emphasized the importance of seeing the potential for a lifelong partnership with someone from the outset, rather than viewing relationships through the lens of temporary labels.

The comedian revealed that he has only been on four dates, underscoring his selective approach to dating. Additionally, Layi Wasabi shared his preference for tall women, highlighting height as the first thing he notices in potential partners.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, opened up about his refusal to engage in a confrontation with his senior colleague Davido. During an Instagram Live session, Portable disclosed that he was urged to fight with Davido but declined, citing his loyalty to the DMW boss, who had previously supported him. Portable emphasized the importance of remaining loyal to one’s benefactors, acknowledging Davido as a source of blessing in his life.
